Versatile Savoury Mince

“This savoury mince can be used as a base for a variety of dishes - nacho’s, lasanga, mince on toast and more.”

 

Servings: Approx. 4 - 5 servings

INGREDIENTS

  • 1.5 Tsp Coconut Oil

  • 1 Tsp Minced Garlic

  • 1 Diced Onion

  • 1 Diced Carrot

  • 2 Tbs Mixed Herbs

  • 1/2 Tsp Chili Powder (optional)

  • 1 Kg Minced Beef

  • 1 Tin Organic Diced Tomatoes (these can also be flavoured variations - e.g. Mexican or Italian style, depending what you are using the mince for)

  • 90 g Tomato Paste

  • Large Handful of Baby Leaf Spinach

  • Salt and Pepper to Taste

METHOD

  1. In a medium or large pot brown off the onion, garlic and carrots

  2. Add the mixed herbs (and optional chili powder), stir, and then add the mince and break up

  3. Once the mince has cooked add the diced tomatoes and salt/pepper to taste

  4. Let cook on a low heat for a further 5 - 8 minutes, or until any excess liquid has evaporated

  5. Remove from heat and stir in the tomato paste, followed by the spinach

This can be stored in the fridge for up to three days or in the freezer for up to three months.
